From humble beginnings Iscar is presently one of the world's leading producers of cutting tools. Stef Wertheimer founded Iscar in 1952 in his garage. After many year and several expansions Iscar moved to it's current local in the Tefen Industrial Zone established in Israel's Western Galilee. Since it's beginning Iscar has elevated from a single market to having representation in more than 50 countries world wide.

Iscar's state of the art facility utilizes sophisticated and completely automatic CNC milling and turning machines to devise tooling round the clock. The configuration of the plant allows for versatility in the manufacturing process. Within a matter of hours a different goods can be put into production. Automation has been a key to the accomplishments of Iscar. The plant uses pick and place robots as well as Automatic Guided Vehicles that are remote controlled by a central production computer, products are transported about the facility in this style.

Iscar strives to be a ruler in the cutting tool industry. Every year Iscar uses about 10% of it's total capital to research and development. Iscar feels that innovation is a way of life. Every day new innovations are fashioned by all levels of employees. Research and development isn't reserved to just tooling. Iscar is continually looking for brand new, more suitable and expanded cost effective ways of creating things. These innovations have allowed Iscar to evolve into one of the fastest growing companies in the industry. The successes of Iscar hinge on these innovations. In 2006 Iscar turned a brand new page. Berkshire Hathaway, an notably large holding organization, advised by Warren Buffett purchased an 80% share of the IMC group, Iscar being it's largest member. Iscar is the first enterprise from outside the US that Berkshire Hathaway has acquired.
